The cultures of the Mekong River will mix with the ancient arts of Japan at the Mekong-Japan Tourism and Cultural Festival in Can Tho this December.
As part of the Mekong-Japan Exchange Year, which aims to increase cooperation between Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan, the event will include photo exhibitions, performances of don ca tai tu (amateur southern Vietnamese opera), boat races and traditional rituals, arts and cuisines from all countries involved.
Located in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, the region’s commercial center, the festival will also include a seminar on tourism development in the delta.
The opening ceremony will be held on the banks of Hau River, Vietnam’s largest Mekong branch, in Ninh Kieu District’s Cai Khe Ward on December 2.
